Luminous Maple Leaf

Luminous Red Maple Leaf is a red autumn maple leaf bathed in sunlight. It is full of colour, featuring a big bright yellow sun patch while the textured background suggests wind and rain.

I painted it after a sunny fall afternoon spent photographing bright fall leaves. You can see the gallery below. In this way, it is not one but a blend of many leaves. Maybe that’s why I almost gave up in the middle of it; it just didn’t want to bend in one direction or the other but seemed to have its own agenda. Now I am so happy I persisted.
